Ordering, Shipping & Planting Information
Our hybrid poplar cuttings are generally available from January until the end of July. Normal planting time for outside ends about the end of July. For greenhouse operations, you can extend this time to the end of September or longer. All cuttings are shipped on Tuesdays of each week. To ensure cuttings are available to you for weekend planting, we ship 3rd day select. Faster delivery can be done by 1st or 2nd day air at an additional cost. Shipments to Alaska or out of the US are sent 1st or 2nd day air. Please contact us for orders over 500 and orders over 100 for our 36 inch cuttings.

What are hybrid poplar clones?
A poplar "clone" is a group of genetically identical plants that result from vegetative reproduction of a single tree (that is, without production of flowers or seed). Some clones are produced when many new shoots or "suckers" arise from the roots of a tree, particularly after the stem is harvested. Some poplars are "cloned" by producing "cuttings." These are segments, often 8-10 inches long, cut from young dormant stems or branches of the selected tree. When planted under proper conditions, these cuttings will spontaneously develop roots and shoots and rapidly grow into new trees. This process can be repeated again and again, allowing an unlimited number of copies of the same tree to be made. Because they are genetically identical, all members of the clone will be similar in rate of growth, form, pest resistance, and wood properties. Thus, superior clones can be selected and propagated for establishment of highly productive plantations. Hybrid poplar clones are designated by unique names (such as "Eugenei") or letter and number combinations (such as NM6).
